The yearly Christmas lunch

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Yesterday, I woke up early to wash the impending dishes that needs to be washed for 3 days. I thought of baking the remaining frozen cookie dough that I made few days ago just in case my in-laws will drop by for coffee and cake after our xmas lunch. I let A to sleep more since we both went to bed the other night really late. After few minutes while I was washing the dishes A went to the kitchen asking me if I knew that we are going to leave in a few minutes. I was so shocked and asked him to where. He said that we will go to the church to attend mass. I was so confuse. I cant remember that we planned nor agreed going to church today, though my mil will sing for the choir but i thought since we will see each other later at xmas lunch we wont go to there anymore. Next, panic attack then upset. I hate it when I need to hurry up. The cookies were still inside the oven and I’m not yet finish washing the dishes. I went out of the kitchen and went straight to the bathroom and started fixing myself. In a span of 15mins I got dressed, fixed my hair, put a little make up, don’t try to imagine how I did that. A fixed the kitchen while waiting for me.

We drove straight to my in laws since were suppose to drive to the church together. When we arrive it seems that A’s dad left already so we decided to go the church. After 10Min’s we arrived at the church but A’s dad and sister weren’t there yet, he called them through his handy but no answer. Then after another 10Min’s they arrived. We waited for a short while then the mass started. It was nice, the senior choir sang good , but not as good as the junior choir since they have lesser member. The family drove back to pick up A’s lola for the xmas lunch as a yearly tradition. This time we went Greek, there’s a nice resto few meters from our place. On our way to the resto, A’s decided to have a side trip to the frozen lake. Since I was so amazed seeing the frozen lake in Restadt, he brought me to this another frozen lake not so far from the church. Ive seen the lake when it wasn’t frozen, i was again amazed. I was so scared seeing A stumping his feet on the frozen surface. I was so paranoid thinking that it might break anytime. I didn’t go to the lake, I was wearing high heels and yup, fear. I told him to get out of the lake and continue driving since the resto is reserved at 12noon and its 5mins before 12. So he got out and went to the car and drove. The resto was newly renovated. Its under new management but they let the old name and revised the menu a little bit. It is the same resto we spent our wedding reception.

After lunch, we invited the family for a bit coffee and xmas cookies (pflätzchen) and also to showcase our xmas tree. They stayed at home until 5pm. A’s mom requested us to go to their house for dinner and also to see my sil’s xmas tree =P. Upon reaching my in laws house we went straight to my sil’s pad on the 3rd floor. We hang out there a little bit then we went down to watch this old film titled “Wird sind kein 3 engel”(i dont know the english title). After the film we had a light dinner and played cards. This is what I like about my new family. They love hanging out with each other. That’s what I miss, normally during this time its very seldom that my family is complete. My father is usually out doing his own thing and its just my mom and brother enjoying Christmas together. I’m so grateful to have my new family here though xmas back home can never be compared and cant be replaced

Dec 6, Nikolaus Day

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

It’s Sankt Nikolaus Tag (St. Nicolas Day) today. It is the kids most favorite holiday here, when they find treats and gifts in their socks or shoes in the morning. Honestly, i only discovered about this special holiday when i got here. Sa atin kasi diba, we receive secreted gifts on the night of the 24th of december. Dito, aside from gift giving on xmas day meron din silang special day which is Nikolaus day. Contrary to the Sta. Klaus that we all know, St. Nikolaus is slim. Accdg to my bossing, the fat Sta Klaus is the comercialized St. Nikolaus because of the Coke advertisement, thats why they call him here “The Weihnachtsmann” or xmas man, so hindi daw sya si Sta Klaus =P. Anyway i found this link  about Sankt Nikolaus. So today  since all kids are receiving surprised sweets and treats here in germany, i got to receive also from my Sankt Nikolaus. Pag gising ko i saw my boots with sweets  na nakatago pa sa mga plantsahin ko, sweet diba =P
